Accounting Manager

Summary of Position:

The Accounting Manager’s main function is to confidently lead a team that maintains accepted accounting principles and upholds company policies. This dynamic role supervises multiple aspects of accounting and processes related to these functions. Strong candidates will have experience reviewing financial data and identifying inaccuracies prior to processing.

Part of this role includes driving innovation and change for several accounting processes such as document management, modernizing accounting methods, and allowing for automation in certain areas. Midwest Hose is seeking an analytically minded manager that can set goals for this area of our company and lead this team with a strong vision.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Process complex and confidential financial data
  • Maintain accounting records with accuracy and efficiency
  • Prepare, process and reconciles customer statements
  • Prepare and file monthly sales tax
  • Act as the decision maker for the accounting department
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
  • Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, banking, and accounting duties
  • Assist in other duties proprietary to the accounting department
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment
  • Maintain professionalism in the workplace
  • Displays flexibility and ability to realign job duties with changing priorities
  • Works well with others to complete multiple department deadlines
  • Ability to learn new tasks proficiently and quickly
  • Knowledge of accounting for a large number of locations within the GL account framework
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Solid computer skills such as typing and navigation through various computer programs including MS Outlook, Excel, and Windows
  • Type more than 50 WPM and 10-key by sight
  • Great verbal and written communication skills
  • Compassionate and patient customer service skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Sitting at a desk – 90% daily
  • Standing or walking – 10% daily (may require more infrequently)
  • Ability to learn and think quickly
  • Energetic, outgoing, and positive attitude
  • Good organization skills
  • Reliable and dependable
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time
  • Regularly required to talk and listen; sit; stand; walk
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field required
  • Minimum of 7 + years of experience in an accounting and management related role
